𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘵 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤 (𝘖𝘭' 𝘉𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘺) by Louise Weaver will be included in the Art School for Fire Relief exhibition, which opens this Thursday 30 Jan, 6-8pm (TOMORROW) at Margaret Lawrence Gallery. 100% of the proceeds of the exhibition will be going to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund INC and Wildlife Victoria. "The beautifully crafted and poetic sculpture is one of many enigmas in Between appearances: the art of Louise Weaver at Buxton Contemporary. You wonder what’s inside, how the ropes talk to one another about where they’re going and what they’re doing together, occupying one another’s space and jostling with wooden beads. They present as a burly group but their solidarity dissolves by their floppy nature at the bottom". ⁣

💚𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 (𝙊𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙭) 💚⁣

'It would seem that eyes can live without hearts' is a line from a poem by the German surrealist artist and writer Unica Zürn, who Weaver deeply admires. Weaver's crochet-covered animal sculptures mostly possess empty eye sockets in place of eyes. However, in this instance, and matching Zürn's poetic words, this green fox wears a lavish sash fashioned from a Comme des Garcons blouse, adorned with baubles and embellished with an array of eyes. - MK ⁣
